The modern alternatives method to glass or contact lenses. the goal of laser vision correction is to reduce or eliminate your dependence on contact lenses and glasses.
LASIK and PRK surgery may reduce nearsightedness, farsightedness and
Astigmatism, there fore reducing your need of contracts or glasses.
|
| PROCEDURE
|
A detailed eye check up is essential prior or treatment.
Contacts lens wearers are advised to discontinue lenses 10 days prior to detailed evolution.
The thickness and the shape of cornea are evaluated by means of pachymetry and topography .Detailed retina examination is mandatory prior to the procedure as myopes are prone for problem.
|
| 1. PRK(Photorefractive Keratectomy) |
Excimer Laser is delivered to superficial layers of cornea and they are thus removed (ablated). Depending upon the amount of refractive error i.e. spectacle, amount of corneal surface cells to be reshaped is determined.
|
| 2. LASIK(Laser Insitu Keratomielusis) |
A superficial flap of cornea is lifted with and instrument called Microkeratome. Then whin 60 seconds U/V light and energy pulses from excimer laser precisely sculpt
(reshape) the corneal bed .By adjusting the pattern of laser beam, it is possible to correct high . levels of near sightedness (myopia) and moderate levels of far sightedness (hypermetropia) and astigmatism.Afetr the corneal bed is reshaped the flap of cornea is replaced in its original position. |
