Dr. Shreekant Bhaskar Kelkar is one of the founding pillars of the National Institute of Ophthalmology (NIO), Pune, and a highly respected senior ophthalmologist whose work has significantly shaped the field of eye care in India. With a distinguished career spanning several decades, he is widely recognized for his expertise in cataract surgery.
Over the years, Dr. Kelkar’s contributions to ophthalmology and community eye health have been widely acknowledged through numerous prestigious honors. He has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Maharashtra State Ophthalmic Society and the Dr. Daljit Singh Oration Gold Medal from the Implant and Refractive Society of India, presented at the society’s annual conference in New Delhi by Smt. Sheila Dixit.
